Based on the service I received up until the day of my operation I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone. It’s blatantly obviously by the ignored emails, the fact no one could be bothered to update the system with my new address & Drs info despite me emailing 2 separate people, giving it to the pre op nurse who then received a fax from my Dr I still left with a discharge letter with the wrong Drs info on!! This was then finally updated by the hospital director who assured me I had a direct line to him should I have any other issues to contact him. But who has ignored my last 2 emails. I paid £5,991 for a stem cell procedure that despite emailing 2 people several times I couldn’t find out what the procedure entailed or what the price was made up of. I never received an invoice to pay despite asking & I’m still waiting for a receipt despite asking 3 times for one!! I had my surgery on 28th June 2019!! It’s so obvious they’re only interested in the insurance cash cows they can charge whatever to rather than little old me from Sunderland paying £6K as it’s nothing to them. This was blatantly apparent by the state of the room I was put in with holes in the wall and exposed plaster and by the fact that I couldn’t get a response from anyone about anything. It’s the 19th October & I’ve still had no receipt & no response but you clearly aren’t bothered because they’ve had their money!! I also had to pay for things I wasn’t going to be using as it was part of the “package” and that package wouldn’t change whether I spent a few days with them or 2 weeks. Very strange I thought considering I was a day case!! But I paid the money as I wanted to be treated by Mr Sharma. The lead up to the op and the staff who you deal with leave a lot to be desired and had it not been for me being treated by my consultant Mr Sharma who is brilliant & as part of other treatment I’d had at Castle Hill (an NHS hospital with impeccable service before, during & after) then I would have pulled the plug & gone to a different hospital. To arrive for your pre op assessment after driving all the way from Sunderland to Hull only to be told immediately that your operation wasn’t going ahead & being cancelled because they knew nothing about you & their information they had was wrong after you emailing 2 different people twice quite frankly is a joke!! Especially being that the person who rang to book the pre op assessment when she asked my address and it was wrong she didn’t have the common sense to check the rest of the info to make sure all the details were right. This I find baffling as surely if a patients address was wrong (despite me emailing several times to change it) you would surely check the rest of the information on the screen. But apparently not as I was told that wasn’t part of her job she just books the appointment and checks the home address!! The only saving grace for me was the staff on the day were brilliant and leagues apart from those I dealt with in the lead up! From the minute I walked in the cleaner who I chatted with, Paul & Amanda who checked me in, Janine who was my assigned nurse for the day, Sian a nurse who popped in & out, Gemma who helped out the anaesthetist, the anaesthesiologist & my brilliant consultant Mr Sharma were all AMAZING!! Such a different experience to that I’d endured before and have since trying to get some info & a response to my emails. I’ve never known anything like it but it’s so obvious that once they’ve got your money that’s it. It’s such a shame because the day itself I can’t praise or thank the nursing staff & my consultant enough. But the admin & business development in the lead up leave a lot to be desired. I would think carefully before considering this hospital as it’s extremely difficult to ensure your information is correct, up to date, or to even get a receipt or some information about the procedure you’re having done. They could learn a lot from the NHS & the way they constantly check to make sure your information is correct. The AMAZING Mr Sharma, his team and the nurses and staff who looked after me on the day of my surgery I couldn’t rate highly enough! Definitely 10/10. The rest of the service and treatment I’m afraid would be 1/10 if that!!

R-Lift 2nd June 2019 Mr RIaz is one of the finest plastic surgeons with extraordinary talent I have ever met. I have entrusted Mr Riaz exceptional skills to restore my face to a younger natural healthy appearance. Mr Riaz is very honest and matter of fact. He listened to and respected my questions and concerns. He put any fear and anxiety I had about my Face Lift (R-Lift) to rest. The quality of my care before and after surgery has been impeccable. He is a class act. He also has one of the finest office staff a doctor could find. They are so professional and knowledgeable and work very hard to accommodate his patient needs. Mr Riaz and his staff always make time for you no matter how busy they are. My Face Lift had very minimal pain and down time. My results were absolutely amazing. His specific R-Lift procedure has dramatically improved the aging around my face I look fresher and younger and still have expression in my face. I believe that with Mr Riaz superb skills as a surgeon I will be staying naturally young through the years. Confidence is truly beautiful. I knew well before my very first consultation was over, that I wanted this procedure. Thank you Mr Riaz for helping me feel confident about myself. You truly are in a league of your own." Thank You Claire (Northern Ireland)

Rooms were grubby and unkempt although theatre areas were immaculate.my latest visit turned into an emergency transfer to HRI whilst coming out of anaesthesia and the theatre staff and team were amazing. It is the general presentation and management that is lacking at Spire I don't recommend it I'm sorry to say.

I Have been treated here a number of times as an NHS patient, and in recent years as a private patient. These particular visits I feel I was treated with the kind of respect and dignity you might expect - even as an NHS patient, with four procedures being particularly traumatic for me, but the care shown made up for the discomfort experienced from the procedures. However, I recently went in again as a private patient to have a very uncomfortable procedure, The room I was initially shown to was very pleasant, basic, but very pleasant, After a few minutes of settling in i was told i had been shown to the wrong room, and after they had my room made ready I would have to move, no problem I think, but when I was shown to what was clearly a very hastily prepared and shabby room I was slightly shocked!, grubby walls and plaster missing from around the window frame, no remote for the TV as I found out later, (would have been very useful, waiting for nobody to come and check on the patient!!), however, the surgeon and his team were very excellent in every way, so I have no difficulty in praising those guys. The problem came after the procedure, taken back to the room, and the lady that escorted me back let the staff know in the nearby nurse's office, then nothing!, for best part of two hours, no fluids, no check on the patient (from anybody), only two hours later did one of the catering staff ask if I wanted any water, then approx. an hour to an hour and a half after that (So three hours then) did I see a member of the nursing team who asked if I would like something to eat, and then I had to ask for a cup of tea!! the nurse did look expectantly at the dining trolley expecting to see something there I think, the look on her face was a picture when she saw nothing, all I got was two sandwiches (two slices of bread) Oh! and a fruit salad! I couldn't get out of bed because the sides had been put up and I couldn't see how to release them, and I hadn't been given the nurse call button, which was still on it's wall bracket behind the bed. so I couldn't call them, the door was open, but I didn't think I should have to resort to calling out to get attention, fortunately I had nothing to drink since the night before so I didn't need the loo, good job I think. Heaven knows how much this bill will come to, but I can only think only the procedure cost would be worth whatever they are charging. Very nice after the refurb, they must have run out of money for anything else. I actually don't like complaining, but knowing this will have been an expensive visit, overall, the whole pre and post procedure thing makes me quite angry, and disrespected. Filled in the Spire hospital review very kindly sent to my phone, unfortunately this was obviously very negative and ticked the box to get someone from Spire to ring - Nothing!!! Sums it all up I think.

I only had a day bed whilst recovering from a nerve root block injection but found the whole experience very calm. The staff were very friendly and professional. They made me feel totally at ease. I would definitely recommend this hospital.
